What is it?
Sewer lining processes are alternatives to expensive and massively disruptive to traditional sewer line replacement projects. Also known as CIPP (Cast in Place Pipe lining) is the preferred method on sewer lining. Sewer pipes over time will become clogged, crack, separate, collapse, get plugged with build-up, or obstructed by intrusive roots. And the best way to prevent and maintain a proper sewer system is with sewer lining.
How is Sewer Lining done?
The process to line a sewer pipe is a precise process best left to experts. First a line targeted for lining should be cleaned and inspected. A high-pressure nozzle is sent into the pipe to remove debris and obstructions. Then a remote camera is sent through the pipe to ensure it is clean and get precise measurements for the lining process. And in cases of extensive obstructions, like heavy root intrusion, a cutter is sent into the pipes to clear them. Also, in some pipes descaling may be required with a special tool before lining can be done.
Once the line is clean, a resin filled liner is pushed into the pipe with air pressure. After that steam is blown into the liner to set off the curing process. Once the resin is cured it turns into a smooth new pipe created within the existing old pipe.
When should it be done?
Lining sewer pipes should be done anytime certain symptoms appear. These symptoms include but are not limited to sewer back-ups, slow drains, bad smells, excessive flows, and overwhelmed systems especially in heavy rains. The fact is sewer lining can, (and should) be done as a preventative measure. Since the CIPP process creates a new line inside the old pipe, you can avoid all the messy, inconvenient, and expensive symptoms that are inevitable.
